The Gold Coast is the tenth and final episode of the second season of Ozark. It aired on August 31, 2018.
Synopsis[]
Marty makes plans without telling Wendy. Darlene sends a message via Jonah. Wyatt learns the truth about his dad. Ruth realizes Cade must be stopped.
Plot[]
Roy returns to finish pending business before his Chicago transfer. He goes fishing and argues with Cade, who kills him and sinks his body.
Darlene wants Zeke, and shaves Jonah's head as a warning, forcing the Byrdes to hand Zeke over.
Marty shows Ruth details of cartel business in preparation for his family's departure, including the location of the cartel's $50 million in Buddy's mausoleum.
Knowing he was recognized while hiding Roy's car, Cade plans to flee before he is arrested. He tries blackmailing Ruth for money by threatening to tell Wyatt she killed Russ and Boyd. Instead, Ruth tells Wyatt, who drives away in anger.
Back at home Marty reveals his escape plan to Wendy, where Marty confesses he wants to salvage his family rather than commit to working with the Cartel. The following day, while Marty charters a plane, Helen visits Wendy to mention the cartel's impression on the Byrdes and her personal admiration for Wendy's role in the whole casino project.
Charlotte visits the Langmores to find out why Wyatt was missing her calls, when Cade accosts her demanding to know where the cartel's money is, however Ruth shows up in time to rescue her. The two return Charlotte home to the Byrdes, where Ruth informs Marty and Wendy of Cade's desperation to find the money. Marty proposes that they offer Cade money to run away, which Wendy seemingly agrees. Wendy meets with Cade to offer him $500,000 to leave town, which he accepts and drives away, however, the payoff is a ruse and Helen's Navarro associate kills him.
At the casino's opening ceremony, Wendy tells Marty the family is not fleeing to the Gold Coast because it is safer to stay. Frank blows up Marty's office as a warning to solve the union and Right-to-Work conflict. Near the end of the ceremony, Helen tells the Byrdes she is returning to Chicago and also informs them of the successful hit on Cade, revealing Wendy's undermining of Marty's initial plan.
